Adult ADD: Use ADD To Make Their Day (And Yours)...

If youre not getting what your want out of life, its not because you have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), youre a bad person, you dont have anything to offer the rest of the world, any learning disability, background, or how much money you have. Its all whether or not you can communicate whats on your mind in an effective way.

Where I'm from, people dont generally walk around smiling and hugging you when they first meet you. What I found was that when I said, Hows it going? almost all the time, people would say, Not bad.

So, one dull, drab, overcast day, while considering ADD and how it affects communication, I said, Okay, Im going to totally mess with people. Every single time someone asks me how I'm doing, I'll look them straight in the eye, smile, and say, Im doing awesome!" This was before I made much money. I didn't say, "I have ADD, I'm living on Ramen Noodles and grilled cheese sandwiches, and I don't know how I'm going to pay rent." I said, "Im doing awesome! Things are phenomenal!

Part of the experiment was to see how it affected my own mindset. I was learning about internal and external communication, too, because ADD sometimes makes it hard to communicate effectively.

So, they would say, Hi. How are you doing? and I'd say, Im doing awesome! and smile.

The first thing that happens is: they smile! Why? Because everyone can identify with doing awesome. Its like, I just won the lottery. Im doing great!

After a couple of months Id walk down the street and people would know what was coming and would always be like, Man, how is Tellman always doing awesome? What happens is that you leave a strong imprint in someones mind, especially a positive one, and thats the last thought you leave with them.

Use your ADD to focus your behavior this way, and after repeating, "I'm Awesome!" the next time people see you, their immediate feeling is that experience of feeling awesome, of feeling absolutely amazing.

To this day when I see people that Im friends with and we have this interaction, its always, Im doing awesome! and Im doing awesome! Its a lift for both people. And it's a great way for people with ADD to improve their skills.

In fact, this is one of the most powerful and simple ADD exercises you can possibly do, and it will be really good for you, if you have ADD and find it hard to communicate easily. But, you have to put some enthusiasm behind it. You also cant just slump over and walk down the street shuffling your feet, and dress like a slob and say, Im doing awesome! or be distracted, as those with ADD can be, mean it! Dress like today is the day that you get to choose what your entire life is going to be like.

Container gardens can create a natural sanctuary in a busy city street, along rooftops or on balconies. You can easily accentuate the welcoming look of a deck or patio with colorful pots of annuals, or fill your window boxes with beautiful shrub roses or any number of small perennials. Whether you arrange your pots in a group for a massed effect or highlight a smaller space with a single specimen, you'll be delighted with this simple way to create a garden.

Container gardening enables you to easily vary your color scheme, and as each plant finishes flowering, it can be replaced with another. Whether you choose to harmonize or contrast your colors, make sure there is variety in the height of each plant. Think also of the shape and texture of the leaves. Tall strap-like leaves will give a good vertical background to low-growing, wide-leafed plants. Choose plants with a long flowering season, or have others of a different type ready to replace them as they finish blooming.

Experiment with creative containers. You might have an old porcelain bowl or copper urn you can use, or perhaps you'd rather make something really modern with timber or tiles. If you decide to buy your containers ready-made, terracotta pots look wonderful, but tend to absorb water. You don't want your plants to dry out, so paint the interior of these pots with a special sealer available from hardware stores.

Cheaper plastic pots can also be painted on the outside with water-based paints for good effect. When purchasing pots, don't forget to buy matching saucers to catch the drips. This will save cement floors getting stained, or timber floors rotting.

Always use a good quality potting mix in your containers. This will ensure the best performance possible from your plants.

If you have steps leading up to your front door, an attractive pot plant on each one will delight your visitors. Indoors, pots of plants or flowers help to create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.

Decide ahead of time where you want your pots to be positioned, and then buy plants that suit the situation. There is no point buying sun lovers for a shady position, for they will not do well. Some plants also have really large roots, so they are best kept for the open garden.

If you have plenty of space at your front door, a group of potted plants off to one side will be more visually appealing than two similar plants placed each side. Unless they are spectacular, they will look rather boring. Group the pots in odd numbers rather than even, and vary the height and type. To tie the group together, add large rocks that are similar in appearance and just slightly different in size. Three or five pots of the same type and color, but in different sizes also look affective.

With a creative mind and some determination, you will soon have a container garden that will be the envy of friends and strangers alike.

A GOA Travel Guide

Goa has a certain reputation, which dates back as far as the 1960s, where it was regarded as a hippy paradise, a place for dropouts, and flower power, a not to be missed place for travellers, and probably regarded as the world centre for dope.

Although Goa was colonised by the Portugese over 500 years ago, it has new colonists, in that literally thousands of tourists visit every winter, many from Europe, but there is also a new generation of middle class young Indians from places like Delhi and Mumbai.

There is a definite divide between on one hand the young generation, bombing around on bikes, going from one beach to another, having a great and very noisy time, often partying all night. This makes parts of Goa a nightmare for the middle class tourist who seeks a quiet quality five star resort, but the great joy of Goa, is that it has the room, the culture, the scenery to cope with both ends of the spectrum.

So if you are looking for bargain prices, cheap accommodation, crowded beaches, hawkers, and action of the legal and perhaps slightly illegal kind, where food and drink are cheap, and the weather is fantastic then Goa is the place for you.

On the other hand if your pleasure is to found in historic sites, on deserted beaches, or on the beach of a luxury resort, then go to the very far north or the deep south, and Goa will be a dream come true for you.

Be warned however, many have come here for a vacation, and been seduced They have never gone home, its that kind of paradise!!
